    Do you have to repurchase games on the Xbox Series X?


    If you already own a game, do you have to repurchase it on the Xbox Series consoles to get all the frame rate and graphical upgrades?

    For example, I own Gears 5 for the Xbox One, would I have to buy it again for the Xbox Series X to get the improvements?

    The only way to play them on the Series S would be to repurchase them digitally if available. Otherwise, the Series X would be the better option so you don't have to repurchase the games.

    To answer your question you do not have to repurchase any of your games. All your DVD games should work and your digital games can be re-downloaded once you sign in to your Xbox live account.

    Nope,all the upgrades are free so you don't need to re buy any games.

    Some greedy 3rd party publishers may charge more for versions of a game with the upgraded versions but the majority don't.

    All of your Xbox One games will work on a Series X. Games that have been 'Optimised' for Series X/S, such as Gears 5 get a free update to download.

    Any digitally owned Xbox One games will also be available to download on the new console with no charge, you just need the same account you used for your Xbox One.
