    Hi there,

    Do non Xbox (wired USB) controllers such as PC or Playstation controllers (via USB) work with an Xbox One through the Windows 10 Xbox console companion app?

    I can confirm that my old wired USB Xbox 360 controllers that don't work with my Xbox One dirctly, do in fact work with my Xbox One if I plug my Xbox 360 controllers into my Windows PC and use the console companion app to stream my Xbox One to my PC.

    I was wondering if the same logic applies to wired USB PC / Playstation / non Xbox controllers where I plug those into my Windows PC and use the Windows 10 console companion app to control to my Xbox One via streaming.

    Hi ggumur,

    Thank you for keeping us updated. Did you also try the
    clean boot     I suggested above?

    Have you tried connecting the controller via Bluetooth if your PC is compatible? There is also a wireless option but you will need the
    Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

    I also suggest trying to plug in via USB to another PC and if the controller does not work on another PC with a USB cable then the controller will need to be replaced.

    Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

    Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

    The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

    Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

    Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

    The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

    Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.
