Do people actually get selected for the Xbox Series X console purchase?

I have the same issue as the OP, and I do see the content in my purchases, but it’s not available to download on my actual Xbox console (Series X).

Many people try to scam others when it comes to new console releases. People are so desperate to buy the new console they don't look at what they are actually buying. For example I seen a PS5 go for $6700 on ebay the other day. That is crazy Also seen
a listing for a xbox series console ( s or x was never stated in the listing) which was the original xbox. Another listing was for a Xbox Series X white edition with a 512gb drive. Obviously this was just the Series S someone was trying to sell as a Series
X

Did you sign up for the Console Purchase Pilot through the Xbox Insider Hub like the article that you linked says to?

"If you’re interested in potentially buying an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, you’ll need to hop into the Xbox Insider Hub and sign up for the Console Purchase Pilot through there. Good news if you signed up last time and weren’t selected: Microsoft says that you’ve already opted into this round and won’t need to do anything for the chance to be selected again."

Because of quarantine people are stuck at home therefore there will be many more people who will want to purchase consoles if they don’t have them already. But, the problem is you’re releasing your Xbox X series at the end of the year sometime which
will put people into a difficult decision of whether or not they should purchase the current Xbox only for it to be updated at the end of the year or not purchase it and wait. But I have a potential way that you won’t have to change the Xbox X series release
time and get people to buy the current console Edit by putting a large discount on the console for a while. And put discounts on Xbox live getting more people on the consul and therefore that’ll be a good marketing technique to get people on xbox. (I’m not
talking about myself I already have Xbox). I’m talking about others that may not have an Xbox now.

The Xbox Series X will do 120Hz but no more, regardless of resolution or monitor.

I would check to see if other Xbox Series X owners have confirmed to achieve 1440p120Hz on those monitors before purchasing.

Maybe a google of "xbox series x 1440p 120hz ___________ " and insert the monitor model to see if people have posted about their monitor and Series X working.
