Do I need two Game Pass subscriptions to play with another family member on a second home xbox?

I have a series X and series S, and want to play games with my 8 year old on Game Pass. But most of them that come up under local co op require two accounts, and not true local. So I connected my series S and created a new account attached as family to my new account. I can't get it to allow both xboxes to play at the same time in game pass games because it says the primary account is already playing the game. I've tried making both "home" Xbox for the primary account, and I can get access to game pass games with the secondary account and play them fine. But I can't play the same game on both Xboxes, so we can't play 2 player on anything on game pass.

if you are purchasing the subscriptions, games and DLC on your account you need to make the console that the other members of your family use most your Home Xbox.

that way anyone playing on the Home Xbox should have access to the Live Gold/Game Pass as well as the games and DLC (but not some in-game purchases such as game currency).

Theres two ways you can do this (that I can think of). The first is if you are logged onto the Xbox that someone wants to play a game pass game on then they can so long as you stay logged on

The second is if you set your family members own xbox as your home xbox. This will allow anyone on that xbox to be able to play any of your games, including those on game pass, and be able to play online (because of your gold membership).
Of course if there are parental restrictions they cant play whatever has been restricted

I understand you need assistance with cloud gaming. Just to clarify, Xbox Family Group is not related to cloud gaming and is only used for managing family members' account restrictions. On an Xbox console, you can share your subscription with family members using the Home Xbox feature. However, please note that only the account that has the Game Pass Ultimate subscription will be able to access cloud gaming, as it is not shareable.

If that family member's Microsoft account does not have an Xbox Live Gold (or Game Pass Ultimate) subscription connected to it, it will then have to rely on whatever subscriptions that their device's Home Xbox setting has with it. The Microsoft account
family feature does not extend subscriptions to those accounts.
