Do i Need to subscribe for gold subscription to play sea of theives

Hi.

I recently bought the xbox one s and they gave me a free game" sea of thieves",Acfter installation on my xbox, when I try to play it ask me for the gold subscription,without subscription I cannot play the game or any games.

Please advice me with out any subscription , can I play any free games or not.

Based on your answer I need to make a decision to stick on to the Xbox or return it.

Gold membership isn't being recognised

Hi, bought my daughter an xbox one S sea of theives bundle. We set it up and used the code to buy sea of theives. She installed the game and went to play it but it said we needed a gold membership to play it. We bought a 3mth gold membership and I had an
email confirming this. Under "memberships" on the xbox itself, it says that she's a gold member, but when she tries to play sea of theives, it's still saying that she needs to buy a gold account! Also, state of decay 2 won't load further than the title screen.
It just goes back to the xbox home screen. I've been trying to speak to someone at xbox but I'm getting nowhere. Can anybody help please? Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both games but that didn't work.

 

can't play sea of theives using game pass??

hello everyone, I tried playing sea of theives through my game pass subscription. Usually it works fine. but today i haven't been able to even open the game. Is anyone else having this problem?

A subscription to Xbox Live Gold is required to play any online multiplayer on any game.

You can play offline on games that have offline modes but some games are online only and they require gold membership to play.

You will have to buy gold to play that game's online mode.

If the game has an offline mode or "campaign" you can play that offline but this specific game can't be played offline as it's an always online game and requires gold membership.

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer game, which means it can only played online.You will need a subscription for Gold to be able to play it.

Single player games you can play without needing Gold.

Gold is required for all online multiplayer games.

That is a hard question to answer since there's no reliable way to tell you. There's no official list of offline single player/multiplayer games but a web search of "offline single player xbox one games" may yield some results. Also look to see if they have
an "offline Campaign".

 

Most of the free games are multiplayer games.

There is a few that is single player but they usually just a shortened game of the full product.
