Do I need an Ethernet cable with an HDMI to hookup an Xbox 1 console?

The console comes with a HDMI cable which you need to connect it to your tv,provided you got the console new.

You can use an ethernet cable to connect your console to your router to connect to xbox live & play online if you don't want to use a wireless connection.

Some TVs do not have HDMI hookups. You need a tv with the hookup.

I'm sorry to hear about the display issues. I can certainly understand that this could be a frustrating experience. So let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

To start things off, here's a handful of questions to be sure that we understand the situation:

1. Your console works via HDMI on your PC monitor and one TV without issue? It's only the second TV that it doesn't work via HDMI?
   
2. The second TV (that the console doesn't work on) doesn't have HD Component Cable hookups?
   
3. Does the second TV have an actual HDMI hookup on the TV itself? Or are you using an HDMI converter?
   
4. Are you able to hear anything when your Xbox 360 console is hooked up to the second TV? Or is it both black picture and no sound?
   
5. Do you have another HDMI cable that you could try to see if it yields different results?
   
6. Have you tried reversing the ends of the HDMI cable (take the end that's plugged into the TV and plug it into the console and vice versa)?
   
7. Do you have another Xbox 360 console (perhaps a friend's or family member's) that you can try to hook up to the second TV via HDMI to see if that yields different results?

No it doesnt support component cables. HDMI all day everyday

Any HDMI cable will work. They just recently ratified the new standard of 1.4 so the cables are as follows:

As of the HDMI 1.4 specification, these are the following cable types defined for HDMI in general:]

Standard HDMI Cable – up to 1080i and 720p

Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet

Automotive HDMI Cable

High Speed HDMI Cable – 1080p, 4K, 3D and deep color

High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet

So you don't NEED to purchase a High Speed HDMI cable, but it would be best for the future if / when the Xbox One goes to 1080p or 4k.
