Do I need a new controller?

Last night, I got the message that my controller batteries were low. Normal, so I did what I always do. I changed the batteries and put my rechargeable batteries on the charger. So, the controller turned on, but the controller wasn't connected. So I tried to connect it with the "blinking" feature. It didn't work, so I reset both the controller AND console multiple times, but it still didn't work. So I waited for the original batteries to charge and I tried those, but got the same results. Am I cooked? Or just doing something wrong? I have NO money for a new controller

Th3RealAlice, try the following procedure only after checking that the batteries are fully charged or with a new pair of alkaline batteries and that the console is plugged directly into the power outlet, without extension cords or power strips.

You must press the Xbox button on the console for 10-15 seconds (very important) until the console shuts down. Then disconnect from the power socket for 3 - 5 minutes and turn on again.

When finished, try to pair the controller with the console using the corresponding buttons.
