    Do I have to buy an adapter to use a microphone headset with and xbox one controller?


    I want to be able to talk through an headset microphone to record voice while playing xbox one s game. Do I need to purchase an adapter for my controller to be able to speak through my microphone to record my voice while playing a game?

    Hi there,

    What headset do you use? Does it connect to the 3.5 mm audio port or do you own a headset adapter?

    It's recommended to have a headset with an adapter or find the individual headset adapter and update your controller with a USB cable to your Xbox One and have the headset plugged in at the same time when you update your controller. Even if the controller
    is up to date, you can force the firmware update but with the headset plugged in.

    Do you get a warning message that a microphone can't be found or is your audio not being heard by others?

    The Kinect is no longer supported, and the Kinect and the cable are both discontinued.

    You could use a second controller with a headset adapter and a microphone plugged into that to achieve what you need.

    All you need to do is plug the controller into the USB and enabled the mic.

    Unfortunately as stated above KINECT is no more, I have looked around and it would be cheaper to buy a OG Xbox One than the actual USB adapter for it. :(

    Your Turtle Beach X12 headset used an USB for power, and also has controls for sound levels. The Stereo Headset Adapter has only an 3.5 mm, 4 pole, Audio jack for phone plug. The adapter has Controls include volume up/down, microphone mute, and game/chat
    balance. I would say buy another headset, MS has one for 79.99 with adapter.
