    DNS servers can't be named


    I watched a video on YouTube on how to open ports for xbox, and after I did that, my xbox now says that the dns servers can't be named, and all my devices won't connect to the internet. I have very little understanding of this stuff, and have no idea what
    is going on!!!!

    DNS Error?

    The DNS server on the inside of my network is a Windows Active Directory Server hosting DNS with forwarders configured to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which are Google's DNS servers.

    that said, I've tried replacing the DNS servers with 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, as well as the DNS servers provided by my ISP no matter what DNS server I specify it gives me the DNS error. It found it to get the patch, and after the patch it can't sign in.

    Xbox DNS error

    my xbox giving me error and not connecting to online..

    Error: "you DNS server can't resove Xbox live server names."

    I've tried different DNS servers from my ISP by putting manually and also tried google DNS but error still sustain.

    any advice would be highly appreciated.

    It sounds like when you set up your network connection you may have incorrectly set up the DNS. So we can get you on the right path of clearing this up, please check our

    Xbox One Network Troubleshooter     and give all the steps for your particular error a try. Please let us know how it goes DNS servers can't be named :)

    DNS is Domain Name System server you really can use any DNS number out there at your own risk. you can use the one from your ISP or you can use public ones like from google.

    but no they can't ban you for using another DNS server.
