DNS error????

    My son has been getting this DNS error the last hour or so on his xbox 360 via wireless, before I call MS is anyone else getting this today?

    I thought this would be gone by now.

    1. Changing your DNS can improve your download speed but it is not simply because you changed DNS. What happens is if your ISP DNS is bad it can resolve you to node that is not well suited for what you are trying to do. If your ISP DNS is not good this can improve your download speeds.
    2. As it is more likely you hit the Xbox live download cap vs Dns issues. Depending on load the Xbox live server can limit your download speed.
    3. As Indie stated there is a chance that you had ERA's(exclusive resource apps) running and that will limit your download speed.
    4. Changing your DNS to google or Open DNS opens you up to information collection by google for selling to ad companies. At 1 point Cloud fare was offering free dns with a privacy policy.

    DNS error????

    Greetings jenkinsnmilw!

    There are no report's that suggest that the service should be limited.

    If you haven't already, browse to Xbox network settings. Select Configure Network and select the
    Additional settings tab. Select Restore network settings to factory defaults. Turn off the Xbox.

    Power off your network equipment (modem and router) for a couple of minutes. Power on the modem and wait one minute for it to connect properly. Power on the router and wait another minute.

    Turn on the Xbox and reconfigure wireless settings.

    I bought Forza Horizon 4 on steam and played for 50 hours, but today I can not connect to the server

    Yes, I'm a Chinese. I am not sure if it's a DNS error. My DNS settings is 114.114.114.114 and 8.8.8.8, 114DNS is provided by all 3 Chinese network operators, I think it's OK.
    It's difficult to say...the current connectivity issue in the game shows up as a DNS error (usually at the bottom of the error message it says something like "check DNS settings")...changing DNS settings makes no difference to it (personally I have tried the default one, Google DNS and Cloudflare DNS)

    I suspect either the servers are having issues with DNS or, more likely, the system is seeing whatever the issue is and mistakenly tagging it as a DNS fault

    Latest version of the 2wire. I don't control when it updates, that's up to AT&T Uverse.

    Home network is thus...

    360, Uverse Box and Laser Printer connect to a 1 Gbps Netgear 8 port switch, which then connects to a Cat 5e Wall socket which comes out in my wiring closet patch panel to my 24 port 1Gbps switch, which then connects to the Uverse router.

    Just on a lark I switched the 360 to wireless and it connected fine... so it's a wiring problem... So on a lark I rebooted the 8 port switch (which was working fine for the printer and the Uverse tv box), and suddenly the wired connection worked.
