    DLC/License Content Transfer Xbox One


    Ok. I have seen many posts related to this, but I'd like a definitive answer.

    Here goes:

    Started with an Xbox one, and 3 separate accounts on the console

    1. Dad (live gold). All Games and DLC were purchased under this account.

    2. Son 1

    3. Son 2

    All was happy in the land - Everyone could access games and DLC since this was set up as a home console. Now, strife has begun...

    Son 1 is going away to college. He has his own Xbox one, and his own Gold account.

    Son 1 and Son 2 both want to access downloaded games and DLC - Son 1 on his Xbox, Son 2 on the original family Xbox.

    The major issue, as far as I can tell, is the content was purchased under my account, and not Son 1 or Son 2 (which would have made life easier for gamesharing, but they were younguns back then, and I did all the purchasing).

    It should be possible for me to transfer all of my licenses to Son 1, make the original home Xbox one his home Xbox, and everyone would be happy, and everyone would have the same level of access to games we have now, but AFAIK Microsoft does not allow transfer
    between gamertags. Is that true?

    How can I remedy this so that Son 1 and Son 2 remain content and allow me to live in peace without having to spend a couple hundred extra dollars on games and DLC that I already purchased?

    The DLC was purchased and downloaded to the owner of said contents XBOX ONE.. A license transfer is the only way to do this..

    Ok but this what it says at the support site

    "Transfer content licenses

    You can transfer content licenses from one console to another once every four months.

    If your console was recently repaired, or if you’ve purchased a new console, use the license transfer option on your console to transfer content licenses. Here’s how:

    On your console, sign in to Xbox LIVE using the gamertag that you used to purchase the content.

    Go to the Settings, and then select Account.

    Go to Your Billing Options, and then select License Transfer.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to transfer the content licenses.

    After the licenses are transferred, you need to download the content again to update the local licenses. This way the content can be used by other profiles on your console and when you’re not connected to Xbox LIVE.

    this last sentence says any profile can use the content as long as you did a " transfer content licenses' i did and license transfer and the DLC does not work

    Hey there Unkown! That's because license transfers aren't used for sharing DLC/Games without paying for them. The purpose of a license transfer is to transfer ownership of content from one console to another console; not to transfer ownership from one account
    to another.

    For example, proper use of a license transfer would be: You have an original Xbox 360 console and you buy an Xbox 360 S console. You then use a license transfer to transfer ownership of all of your DLC from your original console to your new console.

    oh, and there is no way to transfer dlc, microsoft points, or content licenses from one account to another. in rare cases xbox support may transfer a subscription to another account.

    Heh, guess you posted at the same time... The license transfer will only effect all content that is on the Xbox doing the transferring as each is tied to the console it was downloaded on.. So in theory, all content belonging to the older console will be
    transferred to the new one and allow whichever gamertag that bought it to continue using it.. This will not change anything he has bought on his own, on the one in his room.
