  1. Display pixelates and freaks out but in safe mode it’s fine

I have a NVIDA GeForce 1660 in a pre-built I bought less than a year ago. I was gaming as I do most days and suddenly the screen pixelated into purple, blue, and green before shutting off completely. The tower refuses to turn off unless I force shut down it, I already tried cleaning everything, running for viruses, searching for new updates, and even uninstalling my graphics driver but with no luck. When I try and reboot the computer, the ‘administrator’ Lock Screen will appear but turn upside down, before I click on the screen to try and make it to troubleshooting and then it glitches out and the display shuts off again. I don’t know what the problem could be and would really appreciate any help.

    :)

    Hello FantasyNightmare,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? Please check it (Win + R key, and type "winver", press Enter), and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

Were you using your GPU at high power and causing it to overheat when the screen suddenly turns purple, blue and green?

Can you then change the display mode (normal startup or safe mode) in Windows Settings? The interface is shown in the following picture.

Then you may update the driver through Windows Update(Win + I to open Windows Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > View optional updates > driver updates), because this location provides the most suitable driver for the current system, and the one you download from the official website of your device manufacturer may be the latest and may not be stable.

Then please check if there are .dmp files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory.

    • If so, package these files, upload them to OneDrive, and share them, and then include a link to share them in the next reply. Since these files detail exactly what happened when your system crashed, this helps us resolve your issue.
    • If not, run the following command to try to enable it. Win logo key + Q, open the search box, type "cmd", then right-click Command Prompt, select Run as administrator), and then type the following command.

      wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType=3
This is to enable blue screen logging. You need to try to access the C:\Windows\Minidump directory to see if there are .dmp files after the next blue screen appears.
If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Xbox one overscan option.

Thats my tv. Does that overscan option effect games?
It shouldn't. Have a look at what I have said below! (Taken from Wikipedia)

Today's displays, being driven by digital signals (such as DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort), and based on newer fixed-pixel digital
    flat panel
    technology (such as liquid
    crystal displays
), can safely assume that all pixels are visible to the viewer. On digital displays driven from a digital signal, therefore, no adjustment is necessary because all pixels in the signal
are unequivocally mapped to physical pixels on the display

    Playing 4k blu ray disk

    Hi

Have you tried disabling Allow 24Hz in Display Settings > Advanced Video modes ?

Also under Video fidelity try changing the bit per pixel depth and the display to hdmi not auto.
