    Display limited to 640x480?


    So recently I had to send my xbox series x in to get an hdmi port repair, the console worked perfectly and flawlessly beforehand. (I would’ve sent this to Microsoft but apparently my warranty is up) It gets finished they tell me everything works good and I’m pretty much getting a new xbox, well I get home set everything up the console is absolutely locked in 640x480 and will not display anything else. Is it possible that they put the wrong hdmi port in the console?

    I understand you need help with your video problem.

    Have you already tried changing the resolution to see if goes through? Because if it does not, try using another HDMI cable or try resetting the Xbox console.

    You can try this:

    NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

    No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    2. Select Settings.

    3. Select System.

    4. Select Console info

    5. Select Reset console.

    6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

    This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

    If that does not help, check with the technician that repaired your console.

    Did you remember to go back into System Settings and configure the VGA display cable resolution to match your display?



    By default, it should be 640x480.

    OK so first thing How do you have your console going to your TV through HDMI? DVI?

    If HDMI go into settings go down to display and sound go to video output which is probably where you are seeing the 640X480 setting under display then go over to video fidelity & overscan on that page you want to make sure under display it is showing auto
    detect or HDMI if showing HDMI then on the previous screen you should be able to set the display resolution to something other then 640X480

    Problem displaying in 1080p resolution

    I can change the resolution out of 640x480 but if I choose 720p, 1440p or 1080p the green screen start again.

    I tried using another device (laptop, xbox 360) with the same HDMI cable and they are displayed in 1080p perfectly. As soon as I reconnect the HDMI cable on my xbox one the screen shrinks in 640x480

    sorry wrong I understand it. HDTV 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and normal resolution 640x480, 1024x720 1650x1080,.......,. 3D TV disabled, and Display i have enabled discovery.
