go to device manager then select disk drives, then click view up top menu then show hidden devices, you will see a long list of xvd devices, this also causes an entry in the event viewer about a disk drive being removed unexpectedly (only happens when
you quit the gamepass game), only a yellow warning, i dug deeper and they were in fact the gamepass games.

XVD disks is completely normal, if you are using gamepass games and some windows store games they are actually installed as a virtual disk and it causes no harm what so ever. it is completely normal behaviour, the fact it shows as a yellow warning in event viewer is normal too as when it disconnects when you close the game it logs it as a surprise remove, they do need to change that one though.

The XVD disks do not cause any problems on the machine, they are not the cause of your issues, it must be something else especially if your system is over heating, elden ring does have issues even for me too.

i have a pretty high spec rig, my kids never have issues either and they are on lower end spec rigs.

XVD disks do not cause and cannot cause overheating as they don't use any resources.

These are those Xbox related 'Xvd' drives. Well, it's what they look like on my PC anyway.

Didn't work, my game freeze and If I look in the event viewer, I have "error ID 157 disk X has been surprise removed" at the moment of the freeze.

It's not an issue, it's how it's meant to function.

Unless you're having major issues with your PC you shouldn't need to look at event viewer as it will always show system errors even on totally healthy clean OS instalations.

The Game Pass titles use a similar filesystem as their Xbox counterparts which creates temporary VXD drives. These virtual discs shouldn't be using more storage when in use.
