Disk drive on Xbox One X not playing UHD Disks

I have an Xbox One X Project Scorpio that does not play the majority of UHD Blu Rays. I have done all of the troubleshooting with the support staff to no remedy. The weird thing is that it does play some of the disks. One of the
disks however it originally played but then a week later I continued to get errors that the disk is not recognized. I bought a new Xbox One X and to my amazement it plays all of the UHD disks that I have with no issue.

I send in my Project Scorpio because there is clearly an issue with the optical drive if another Xbox One X has no issue with playing the disks. After waiting for three weeks to get my Project Scorpio back I am informed that for the repair they "put the
Xbox through extensive testing, and have reset the software to its original factory setting..." First thought is that they didn't actually repair or replace anything. Sure enough I go through hooking everything back up only to find that the issue has not been
rectified. Although I have always been a fan of Xbox if these issues do not get properly fixed than I will be looking at moving to a PS 4 due to blu rays being the major use for my gaming system needs. In looking at other posts it appears that I am not the
only one with this issue and support has directed them to leave feedback for the blu ray app. This will not help since it is clearly a hardware issue and not a software or app issue.

Xbox One Elite 1TB

There was a Xbox One Elite. It came out circa 2015.

There were three differences to the original Xbox One.

A 1TB hard drive. The original Xbox One was only 512GB

The hard drive is an SSHD these are hybrid drives. Basically a standard 2.5" hard disk with SSD technology included. Not to be confused with a fully fledged SSD hard drive.

It came with the first version of the Xbox One Elite controller.

It won't be a year old, unless it was sitting in a store or a warehouse for a while before they bought it.

Other than the slightly faster hard disk, and the controller, it's not very 'Elite' now. It only has a standard Blu-ray drive, not the UHD capable of the One S and One X, and it doesn't support UHD resolutions nor HDR.

 

Can not play Star Wars The Last Jedi 4K UHD blu-ray (Xbox One X scorpio edition)

I'm unable to play the new Star Wars Last Jedi 4K UHD disk. I have replaced the disk once to ensure it was not at fault. My only other 4K UHD disk works perfectly (Fast & Furious 8).

I have hard-reset the Xbox One X. I have deleted and reinstalled the blu-ray app. I have tried inserting the disk many times. I can hear the disk trying to be read, but it always fails with an error message. The film nevers starts at all.

I have the Project Scorpio edition - which I purchased primarily for the 4K UHD support so this is really disappointing.

Any more suggestions? Do I need to get my xbox serviced?
