Discord Implementation With Xbox

Over the past few years, Xbox has been essentially turning Xbox into a platform rather than a console. Thus bringing the platform over to PC and allowing the use of the platform through Windows. For years I've said, "Xbox should partner with Discord and use Discord on their platform". I've only recieved positive feedback from this idea, so I thought it was time to share it publicly.

Discord is the main platform used for gamers on PC. It also arguably has some of the best voice quality available for free. Discord is the perfect place for groups of people to get together and have a place to communicate. On the console side of things, you could say Xbox has done very well attempting the same thing. "Looking for group" was awesome and one of the most helpful ways for me to find people to game with.

But I believe we all can admit, the Xbox app on PC just isn't very good. The new app is better, personally I like it. But the voice chats through the Xbox Overlay are mediocre; And it's unacceptable. NAT issues, common connection issues, constant disconnecting and reconnecting. I mean i sometimes have to wait 5-15 minutes before being able to connect to voice chat with some of my friends. This needs to get better, and Discord has already figured this out. Discord is ALREADY the main. A partnership between Xbox and Discord would be nominal in terms of communication.

Straying away from voice chat for a second, Discord is amazing for group communication for text chat as well. Really great at organizing information and different chats. In Xbox you can create groups, it's cool, but pretty useless and a bit hard to use.

To get to my main point- I am a PC gamer, I came from Xbox and will forever love Xbox. I constantly use the Xbox app and overlay and I love it (when it works) because I can stay connected with my Xbox pals through PC. Many times I have been in a party through the Xbox overlay and also been in a Discord chat and if im being honest.. it just causes problems. So that is what stemmed this idea, from saying to my Xbox friends, "Man I wish you had Discord on Xbox". And with cross platform becoming a bigger thing(hopefully a norm) and with Xbox putting their platform on PC, being able to link my Xbox account to Discord would be amazing. Having my Xbox friends in the same call as my Discord friends while we are all gaming together playing Modern Warfare or Minecraft or any other cross-platform game.
