Disconnecting from Xbox live/internet when in instant mode on

Thanks very much for the responses guys.

On understanding instant on a bit better:

I was under the impression that one of the benefits of instant on is that the console downloads game updates when turned off. So that you can turn your console on and not have to worry about sitting through game updates.

The above would suggest that this isn't the case?

Even with instant on turned on, when you turn the xbox off it is going to go into standby mode. This includes power not going to the wireless adapter anymore. If you are wanting to install a game or any other content, you must leave the console on and not
in standby mode while it is installing.

Did the steps but It still disconnects from the Internet

Thank you so much for the update. Let's then perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

We may need to refresh your power mode settings. Please follow the steps below:

“Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options.

Select the Shut-down (energy saving) option.”

After that perform a powercycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​

Lastly, change it back to sleep mode:
