    Disconnected From Xbox Live on backwards compatible games.


    I am having trouble playing backwards compatible games. It will just say disconnected from Xbox live after about 10 minutes. I’ve tried everything to try and fix it. Used different wifi, deleted and readded my account, bought a new gold subscription, cleared cache, restarted and this problem has been consistent through Xbox one, Xbox series s and recently the X now as well. 3 different Xbox’s, 2 different internet connections (which are fast) and multiple accounts and I still haven’t been able to stay connected for longer than about 5-10 minutes at a time.

    Is this the only backwards compatible game that this is happening with?

    When you load the game up does it give you a message that says disconnected from xbox live?

    Is your password longer than 16 characters?

    Let me understand you are trying to play Borderlands 2 (a backwards compatible game) on the xbox one and are trying to make sure your game progress is being saved to the cloud?

    Is this correct?

    You say this is happening with other games too are these games also backwards compatible games?

    When you load these games does it give you a message that you are disconnected from xbox live?

    I would also like to mention that I have Spectrum wifi. Sometimes it will let me play a backwards compatible game for 5 minutes before it disconnects me from xbox live once again.

    Reverse confusion

    Just make sure that your console is connected to Xbox Live when you are trying to install a backwards compatible game, even from disc, as all backwards compatible games need to be downloaded, not installed from disc.

    Also it is up to the developers of games to decide if a particular title is made Backwards compatible or not, feel free to reach out to them and ask about making their game(s) backwards compatible too.

    As you've probably seen from the
    Backwards Compatible list     there are very few sports orientated games available. The reason for this is licensing, and because of a legal dispute between NCAA and EA Games, the NCAA games were de-listed from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

    Microsoft and its associated partners only make games backward compatible that are available to purchase digitally via the Live Marketplace.
