"Disc region is incorrect for this console" on digital download

I bought a pre-owned Xbox 360 so that I could play Sonic Unleashed, I downloaded the game to a removable drive and when I tried to play it, it said "Disc region is incorrect for this console", despite the fact that it's a digital download, not a disc.

I tried downloading other games to the same drive and they all worked, but specifically Sonic Unleashed gives me the error "Disc region incorrect".

The game used to work on my old Xbox 360 and I haven't moved or anything, but for whatever reason, it won't let me play the game on the new one.

Sonic Unleashed "This disc's region code is incorrect for this console digital" error

I get "this disc's region code is incorrect for this console digital" when i downloaded and try to play the game.I bought on my computer using my xbox live account which i also use on my xbox360,SONIC UNLEASHED
from this link.I live in turkey,and my console is pal,plus it says "disc's" region code when actually its digital download.So anyone can help me with this ?

 

Help my downloadable free gold game something went wrong

I was downloading metal gear solid V ground zeros but when it finished downloading then why I play the game then this message comes up

" This disc region code is incorrect for this console"

but it's not a disc it's a free Xbox live gold downloadable game

Original Xbox and Xbox 360 were region locked, and it was left to publisher to decide if the game is going to have a region lock or not.

The console you are using seem to go under that restriction

 

Do you know from which region the console was purchased originally? Sonic Unleashed is a region locked game. Did you purchase the game from the same region?

 

I bought the console from EB Games Australia and I bought the game on the xbox store (in Australia).

Why would a digital download from the xbox store be region locked?

 

Is it possible that the previous owner of the console bought an US or Asian console version, and then sold it to EB Games in Australia?

Not all games are region locked (for example, all Microsoft Game Studios games are all region free, and will work on any Xbox 360 console worldwide), while other games like your Sonic Unleashed is Region locked.

Since you are in Australia, and have an Australian account, you bought the "PAL" version of the game, which will not run on Asian or US consoles, due to the region lock.

If the console really is from a different region than PAL, you might have to return the console to EB Games and ask them for a console that "works" in Australia, or give you a refund.
