Disc not working on second model but works on previous model?

It sounds to me like this game has been installed for some time on the older console, right? Once installed, all Xbox One games run from the hard drive. The disc is only read to verify ownership.

Since that part of the disc can still be read, the old console can still run the game.

But since that time, the disc is either damaged or dirty. This is why your game works on your old console, but won't install on the One S.

It doesn't appear to me to have any scratches when i try dark souls 3, an older disc that has much more damage/grime on it, reads fine and begins to install. I put it into my scanner and skyrim seems a lot better than dark souls.

Hit the button 3 times, did nothing to play the disc. I tried restarting with energy saving, unplugging ethernet and turning it offline, last thing would probably be to reset the console but im not trying to go that far unless i really really have to.

Just as a troubleshooting step, would like you to uninstall the blu ray app then reinstall it. Also go to settings>disc and blu ray>blu ray>persistent storage and clear 3 times.

So I've tried the disc again on the original one, pulling out my external drive and copying the game onto my xbox one s. I then put the disc inside the original one and it started installing. I'm not sure if the one s is just not supposed
to read skyrim or...?
