Disc-Games being updated - why do I have to put the Disc in?

Hi there,

my question is kind of simple. When my "instant-on"-Mode updates a Game on my Xbox One, why do I have to put the Disc in, to finish the update.

While updating, I don't want to change he discs every time an update comes out.

Please make it work without discs. In my opinion it's ok, when I need the disc to play the game, but it's not, when it needs an update.

Have any of the recent updates fixed game installation by disc? Have heard that game installs by disc can be very long if the One is connected to the internet because the console will download the entire game and updates instead of doing the main game install from the disc. Not sure why this was ever an issue because the console should have been able to detect when a disc is inserted and do the game install from the disc. When you install by disc it installs from the disc. It doesn't download the entire game, only updates.

This is for the same reason that you still have to have the disc to play the game, to ensure that you still have the rights to play the game (basically that you haven't already traded the disc in at a Game Stop etc.).

While it is an annoyance, don't expect it to change.

Games purchased digitally will automatically download and install the updates.

But games you purchased retail (i.e. disc-based) will require you putting the disc in the drive in order to finish the installation of the update.

PS4 updates both digital and disc media games regardless. I wish Xbox One would do this.

I find it utterly annoying to have to feed disc after disc into the X1 just to finish the installation of the update.

Most games that is being released now is not working properly when it is placed on disc. The developers are rushing the release of the game before they launch it. That is why they have all these updates going out. If they do not release updates most games
will be unplayable.

Might try installing disc 2 before putting disc 1 on the HD. It did an update as soon as I put in the install disc, did that and then installed the game disc. Had no problems at all and the game is awesome.

I have seen this mentioned before with previous updates,not sure of the solution though.

Have you tried re-downloading your profile?

You could try physically putting the game disc in your machine that the awards are from,as the items are on the disc rather than being DLC.
