Digital Refund was approved but money is not showing up In Microsoft account balance

Hello, I bought Microsoft Flight Sim digitally on August 3rd, and I realized I couldn’t play it on my Xbox. I requested a refund and it was approved but the refunded money isn’t showing up in my Microsoft account balance. To be clear they e mailed me saying “We have refunded the order you placed on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. You should see $63.59 credited to your account soon.”

It can typically take 3 to 5 business days to receive a refund after it has been approved.

Hi, thanks for responding so soon, I have asked for the refund and it said in the status that the refund was approved on the 15th January.

I paid by a Microsoft balance and rechecked it today to show the money is not gone back up or entered my card.

By the way, I used the wrong email to ask a question, so this is not the email assigned to the problem.

The money will be refunded to your Microsoft account balance, not to the card. The card was only used to add money to your Microsoft account.

It can take a few days for the refund process to be completed. Normally it takes up to 3 to 5 days for this.

But since the money was taken from your Microsoft account balance, it will get back there, not to the gift card.

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention here on the forums. If your refund was approved there is sometimes a few days of processing time for Microsoft to send the money to your bank. The bank may then also take an additional amount of time
to process it before it gets to your available balance. It can take up from 3-5 days before you see it reflected in you bank account. You can also reply back to the approval email you received about the refund for more information from the refund specialists.

Refund will go to whatever payment option you used to make the purchase.

If approved normally takes MS up to 72 hours to process then could take your bank up to 30 days to process.

Once it is approved by MS and when you sign into your account at account.microsoft.com and go to order history and the purchase shows as refunded that means MS has finished processing it on their end and its up to your bank to put the money back into your
account at that point.

If you used MS account currency/gift cards once the refund is approved by MS it will be available on your account balance immediately.

The license for the season pass will be taken away from your account if you have it installed on your Console then you would need to uninstall it to free up the space on the HDD on your console.
