Digital licenses as assets in a divorce?

My divorce was finalized this year. During my 11 year marriage, we had one main family Xbox LIVE account that we used to purchase digital games and DLC. When we split, the main account stayed with my ex because he was the one who used it for online play.

The biggest issue here is Rock Band 4. Over the years we purchased over 200 songs plus the Rivals expansion. That's nearly 500 dollars of assets that I have no access too, even though I have the game disc and instruments. My ex can't even use the DLC. I was told there's no way to transfer licenses. Honestly, that is ridiculous. In this increasingly digital era, is there really no way to rectify license possession in a divorce or other legal situation? Digital assets are still assets, still not immune to the law, yes?

I'm looking for either a solution or a method of bringing this to the attention of higher ups. Clearly changes need to be made.

Unfortunately there's no say to transfer licences. This has been the case for a really long time and it was put in place as a security measure to prevent a lot of things. I wish there was more I could do to help, sorry about this

whoever owns the account owns the content regardless who purchased

The licenses will technically remain on that console until a license transfer is eventually performed. Be careful about any "selling" of digital assets attached to your account, however, as such behavior can be in violation of the Terms of Use.

The game is owned by EA, and has had it's music and asset licenses expire. The expense of renewing them is far more money than the game is likely to make back if it was returned to digital storefronts.

It was delisted in 2021

If you would like to have the game re-released, you'll have to ask EA.
