Digital games not launching on Series X

I have recently moved from a Xbox One X to a Series X and I am having issues with a few digital games not launchng.

I first noticed this with FM 21. After the initial logo screens and sometimes displaying graphical glitches on screen it crashes back to the home screen (not a single issue on my old console).

I have tryed all the troubleshooting suggestions I found on the Xbox site and had previously contacted the developer via their forum (they suggested a few of the same trouble shooting options).

I have now experienced the same issue with Fortnite which I downloaded for my cousin. Same thing, initial screen shows but crashes back to the Home Screen. I have read all the known issues and also read about games crashing on launch and the console shutting down but it’s not shutting down.

I have about 20 games currently installed, all digital, and they all work fine including cloud saves.

I am now out of ideas short of performing a factory reset. I have power cycled the console, tried other profiles, removed and added my profile. Cleared game data, cleared cash, removed and reinstalled. Initially I did a network transfer of the games for speed but for both I have installed fresh from the store.

Any further help and suggestions would be appreciated.

The crashing or freezing of a certain game/apps is generally related to the network which is why I will provide you with the official link to all the troubleshooting steps that can help sort this out for you. Before going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned on the link I was referring to, I would like you to go through the following steps to clear your Mac address and perform a quick power cycle:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your console.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

And even after the new console is out and if you still have the one X they said something like if you buy a digital game that is on both consoles when you upgrade to the series X that digital game will update to the series X.

Thanks for letting me know! I don't buy any digital games on the Xbox, only Gamepass so I cant tell

I hope they fixed it soon...

Gamepass games on PC and XBox Series X are still unable to launch.

I am thinking of buying hogwarts legacy as a digital game but it is sold out for Xbox one so should I buy the Series X game and put the code in the Xbox one Store?

No. The series X/S version of the game will only work on the Series X or S.

The only way that would work is if it's a code for the digital deluxe version of the game (which comes with both the series x/s and xbox one versions of the game)
