Different Xbox chat issue

I have all my chats with other people even if they are almost 5 years old but there’s this one person who I have messages up to like 4 years but the chat is a few months short of the messages we are supposed to have. Can anyone tell me why this is?

Hello Muhammad, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I'm afraid that we wouldn't be able to say why there are messages missing from your history. The only thing I can think of is if some messages were deleted by the user or if some messages may have been flagged as going against the terms of use of Xbox Live and would have been removed by enforcement.

However, I'm afraid that's only a guess.

There are a few things we want to do to identify what the problem is and where it isn't. So it could be an issue with the controller, console, or chat pad, so try different configurations and see which seems to be the issue. Try the chat pad on a different
console, with a different controller, or try the controller with a different chat pad (if you have one available), etc.

Without the chat pad connected to the controller, does the Xbox remain powered on? Does the Xbox console shut off after powering it up with the chatpad still connected?

Do you have another controller to test if the same thing happens when you connect to it?

Those questions can help us identify where we can focus our attention to identify what the issue is and fix it.

It seems the issue is related to the in-game chat option not working properly in a streaming format since your mic and headsets works in other formats and they work separately on different displays.

What happens if you invite your brother's profile to an Xbox Live party chat and communicate that way? Is there an audio or mic issue when forming a party chat and choosing to not speak in game chat?

He’s saying he is trying to “game” chat through fortnite and not “party” chat through Xbox, probably because his friends use a different console than Xbox. I have the same issue. Only on fortnite can I not use game chat with cloud gaming. It’s beta. The perfect excuse to not work. Lol

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. There are a few things we would like to know in order to have a better understanding of this issue.

When your son is chatting with his friends, is he in an Xbox live party? That would be a private room/party where you can only chat with/hear other members in the party.

Or, is he using in game chat? This means he is not in an Xbox live party, and is able to talk to all players in the game lobby he is playing in.

Since this issue is happening on 2 different mics, have you been able to try out a different controller?
