    Different versions of Age of Empires 2 Definite Edition


    Hi!

    We all downloaded Age of Empires Definite Edition for Windows 10/Xbox and we are having trouble playing a multiplayer game of Age of Empires 2. It says we have different versions and, indeed, the numbers are different. Do we need to download something? What can we do so that we can play a multiplayer game?

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    You and your friend needs to have the same version of the game in order to play multiplayer. You may have the HD version while they have the original classic version. In order to play you need to purchase the version they have or vice versa.

    Just for a clarification, AOE2 DE is not coming to Xbox, it is PC only.
