    I saw the promotion on the XBOX ONE POP-UP area and clicked on it.

    I read it and it stated that if we got the 1-month free trial, we would get a 3-month free code sent to us. I rechecked this and signed up. Then I informed my friends about this and told them how to refresh until it popped up. A few got their free 3-month
    code while most of us got nothing.

    I contacted SUPPORT CHAT and the person said that a company would not give away 4 months of free service. Which means that if you got a code, you must have paid for 1 month. If that is the case, I have to check with my friends who got the code to see if
    they got charged for 1 month or used the 1-month free as the POP-UP stated.

    If it had stated need to BUY 1-month to get 3-months Free, I would not have signed up for the service. It read and my friends confirmed it stated 1-month FREE to get a 3-Month Free code. Only reason I did this was to see if the background music worked.

    My advice to all: Call 800-469-9269 and talk to an Xbox agent. I did this and made some progress.

    This forum is a waste of time. Did not get groove 3 month promotion :(

    Any update on this? I've been waiting patiently for a resolution.

    SilentSteven1234, thanks for the suggestion to call an Xbox agent, but every time I do that the agent just 'passes the buck' after a lengthy wait. Here's the typical scenario:

    1. Me: Call number and wait for agent.

    2. Agent 1 (Very nice and friendly): "How can I help you today Tim?"

    3. Me: Explain the bait and switch program they hoodwinked me with (at least up to now).

    4. Agent 1(Still very nice and friendly): "Tim, is it okay if I transfer you to someone in the (make up department name here: e.g., Xbox technical engineering support)? They can better assist you."

    5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 until I go away.

    Update: Microsoft is refusing to honor the promotion based on that fact that I had a prior, inactive subscription to Groove. They state that the fine print excludes prior holders from the promo. Here's the promo conditions and there is no such exclusion.

    Totally dissatisfied - this is the biggest crock of BS and a total clown show. I'm now trying to ID the director or VP for the groove service so I can directly complain to them. Any help appreciated.

    Can you please clarify where you purchased Groove Music for this particular promotion? Did you purchase a trial from your Xbox One or was it via your PC? Let us know so we can take a deeper look into it.

    Details including order number sent via PM.

    My expectations to close this issue are:

    - get promised promotional period applied my account

    - reverses August Groove auto-renewal month charge

    - start promo period in August

    - get this resolved promptly.

    This should not be hard. From observing forum traffic, MSFT clearly had issues with this promo. I don't expect to have to do a lot of Q&A here. Just fix it please. Thank you.
