Did I make a mistake or is this thing being uncooperative?

Okay so I bought a season pass for a game online. My email will delete mail automatically after a certain period of time. I didn't have access to my game at the time so I thought since I could redeem codes on my computer for xbox because it has that option.
The redemption was successful. But now that I have access to my game the season pass is not ready to install. So I tried entering it through my xbox this time and as I thought said it was already in use. But if I'm using it why can't I install it and get the
stuff?

Finally got my xbox one! I have never waited this long to purchase a xbox. I told all my friends i would not purchase one until i was sure micosoft got all the kinks out. Then finally i broke down. I got tired of seeing all my friends on the one lol. So
i got myself a nice bundled xbox one and 4 games that i liked. Here's the kicker this was two days ago and i still havent gotten the opportunity to play.. why you ask? Here's why first game i popped in there after unboxing and initial set up was destiny..49
hours later still downloading updates is Microsoft serious? I understand i might not have the strongest connection ever but come on. This is ridiculous and un heard of.. i have tried offline install online install, tried resetting my router tried testing connections
thru the xbox,tried a wired connection. I mean what gives? I feel hopeless taken advantage of i have argued with my wife because ive been in the man cave for two days straight. Staring at the download queue like a lost puppy..i am so upset that im thinking
of returning the system. Just checked it again and its at 70%. Maybe i have to pull out the 360 that i just finished wrapping up in all the original packaging.. (took me awhile) love xbox but not enough to spend $700 for what is supposed to be a upgrade to
the 360 but its not i believe its a downgraded system with a few shiney things to get us excited..i mean i even took the time out to post on this forum because well im bored... then i even read in a posts all over the internet that im not the only one with
this issue. Also read that people have downloaded 99% and received a error..i will literally throw this oversized brick out the window...

I feel your pain.

I have quite a fast internet connection and get problems like you.

It seems there are a lot of slow download servers. Whichever server you get connected to depends on your DNS settings.

Here in the UK most people on BT or Sky connections get slow download speeds. A workaround is to use openDNS which would connect us to a faster server but now openDNS is connecting us to extremely slow download servers.

I'm currently having to use the unblock DNS settings to get a decent speed.

Your best bet is to try another DNS server. One you could try is googleDNS and see if that help. Just go into the settings app then the network settings then advanced and change the DNS settings.

Set the primary as 8.8.8.8 and secondary as 8.8.4.4

after doing this press B to save them then go to the power settings and select restart now to restart the console. This will clear the DNS cache.

Hopefully now you will be connected to a faster download server.

If that fails there are other DNS servers you can try.

 

In your Games and Apps, highlight the game and press the menu button on your controller and select "Manage Game". It should list the season pass there. If it's not installed, you should be able to install it from there.
