    Device Can connect despite settings #XboxOne


    Hi guys, I am in preview Beta Ring, and recently my brother was able to connect to my console using the youtube app on his phone Typically he would require a Pairing code but he was able to do it anyway without needing a code. Why is he able to do this?

    My xbox settings are set to not allow any, (the device play tonstream settings are also off) He showed me that in his youtube app, my xbox showed up as able to connect and he was able to connect to it easily. This is a problem Device Can connect despite settings #XboxOne :( I didnt even have an option to reject the connection when i got the notification.

    Please fix this, add some kind of thing to not allow random connections or atleast the ability to refuse a connection from a random phone.

    It will never happen as Microsoft (xboxone) needs to authenticate any device connected to the xbox, the G27 (i have one too) doesn't have the authentication chip installed, so the G27 will never work on the xboxone, unless its routed through the standard

    Well I realized Play To wasn't working because for some reason my wireless network connection was set to Public which has network discovery turned off. Changing a wireless network connection from public to private required registry edit believe it or not
    - seeming a setting area that Win 8.1 didn't get right.

    But the third party apps still can't stream despite them seing the Xbox and the Xbox makes the connection sound when I set it to the playback device but they just won't sync.

    Pretty ridiculous I can stream from Android to a Microsoft device but not from Windows!

    Check your settings on XboxOne settings page.

    From your settings page select "Preferences" now look to the right of page. Make sure you have selected either (from any SmartGlass device) - ( Only From profiles signed in on this Xbox )

    If selected is ( Don't allow SmartGlass connection ) your issues should be over once changed and saved!!

    So... Settings>Preferences>SmartGlass Connections: only from profiles signed in on this xbox. "That's my preference"

    With a bit of investigation into my Asus RT-AC3200 router settings I found I could set up a MAC filter for each home device and specify which of the routers 3 wifi signals they could connect to and limit the times and content for the XboxOne etc. I use this
    in conjunction with MS Family so changing the Xbox one address settings or creating another unregulated account no longer gets around my restrictions. Guests can still use a separate less restricted time limited account too.
