    Hello,

    I created a Refund Request for an Xbox digital game that was accidentally purchased by someone else in my family. The game was never opened or played. I requested a refund 13 days after the accidental purchase.

    My Refund Request was denied and closed. For about 2 weeks, each day, I reopened the ticket and left a question for the Refunds Team. Each day, my question was ignored, and the ticket was closed again.

    I reached out to the Microsoft Accounts and Billing team, and they left some comments for the Refunds Team in the ticket. These comments were ignored, and the ticket was again closed.

    I reached out the Microsoft Customer Support team on several different days, and they could not figure out why the Refunds Team was ignoring all our questions and comments.

    Finally, the Microsoft Customer Support team opened a new ticket to ask the Refunds Team why my Refund Request was denied. After 2 weeks of ignoring all inquiries, they finally replied, stating that an accidental purchase must have a Refund Request submitted
    within 5 days. The Microsoft Refund Request website seems to suggest that 14 days is the time period though (please see screenshot below):

    My questions are:

    1. Why does the Refund Request website ask if the purchase was made within 14 days, if the real time period is 5 days.

    2. Is it normal for the Refunds Team to ignore all questions submitted by the customer? (After 2 weeks of almost daily questions, I never did get a response from them).

    I did not get a refund and i didnt know there was refunds at the time i thought that was a a new game not a old game

    someone got a full refund and it was past 14 days
    You're free to reply to the e-mail that you got denying your request for a refund, but "someone else got one" is not a reason you should get one. Good luck.

    Just keep in mind If the purchase was for VC (digital currency) and he spent the VC already then your refund request is very likely going to get denied.

    For your refund request ( an accidental purchase ) it can be denied if it does not meet the terms and condition of Microsoft. Possible that the item was purchased for more than 5 days when you requested the refund or you already have a previous refund
