I want to do how to delete an XBOX gamer tag from an associated microsoft account WITHOUT deleting the microsoft account. Please guide me with the steps.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We se you have a question on Xbox account. Unfortunately, there is no way of doing this. The Microsoft account and Xbox account are basically same thing. As you use the Microsoft account to sign into Xbox. Is there
a specific reason why you want this done?

You'll just have to change the tag on the one you want to be different.

You can't remove the Xbox account from your Microsoft account, I am sorry to say.

oh. And this Gamertag is the gamertag that Microsft automatically generated when I started the support chat, without my knowledge or consent, and I was told by support that if they try to delete it, it will also delete my 7 year old Xbox
account and gamertag.
