I'm currently using Windows 11. I was having issues with Xbox game bar, so I uninstalled Xbox game bar by going to task manager > game bar > then I uninstalled the SYSTEM file. The problem is now I tried everything, and the app won't even open anymore. I tried resetting the app, uninstalling in PowerShell, reinstalling, troubleshooting Microsoft store, and none of it will work. I never had issues with being able to open Xbox game bar until I deleted the game bar SYSTEM file. It says the app is installed and everything, but when I click on the app icon or press windows key + G nothing happens whatsoever. It just refuses to open.

    :)

    Hello Orbange,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand you are having issues with Xbox Game Bar. Let's work on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

Since you have already tried resetting the app, uninstalling in PowerShell, and troubleshooting Microsoft Store, I suggest you try reinstalling the Xbox Game Bar system file that was deleted.

Here are some steps that you can try to resolve the issue:

Open Windows PowerShell as an administrator.

Type Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay | Remove-AppxPackage and press Enter to remove the Xbox Game Bar app from your system.

    Restart your computer.

Open the Microsoft Store app and search for “Xbox Game Bar”.

Click on the “Install” button to reinstall the app.

    You can also try this:
    1. Press the Windows key + X and select "Command Prompt (Admin)".

    2. Type "sfc /scannow" and press Enter.

    3. Wait for the scan to complete.

    4. Restart your computer.

If the issue persists, you can try resetting the app by following these steps:

    Open the Settings app.

    Click on “Apps”.

Search for “Xbox Game Bar” and click on it.

    Click on “Advanced options”.

    Click on the “Reset” button.

I hope this helps! If you’re still having trouble, please let me know we will do our best to help you resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    Sincerely,

    GTA 5 Game Error (HELP)

The Xbox 360 console also stores temporary files for the Xbox Games store. You may be able to resolve this issue if you delete the Marketplace System Data file.

To delete the Marketplace System Data file, follow these steps:

On your console, go to settings, and then select System.

Select Storage, and then select your primary storage device.

    Select System Items.

    Select Marketplace System Data.

    Select Delete.

    Restart your console.

Try to download the item again.

If you still cannot access the Xbox Games Store after you clear the system and delete the Marketplace System Data file, the Xbox Games Store is likely down for system maintenance or experiencing a temporary problem. Please try again later.
