deleted parent account from xbox one - how to add a parent account

To make things easier for my kids, I deleted the parent account from my xbox one s console. I can still see the account but cannot log in as a parent. As a result I cannot manage permissions to allow a specific game. I also could not add the deleted parent
account back onto the console. When I go to family settings and try to add my parent account which is still showing, it says "you are unable to change x's settings". I cannot log out from the child's account and cannot log into my parent's account either.

Through the PC I have the correct relationship between the parent and child accounts, and I can manage some permissions there, but could not see how to move restrictions to a specific game.

Catch 22 - is there a way?

Sorry to hear it. Sounds like the account seems to be stuck in console limbo somehow. To fix this I would recommend doing a factory reset on the console. It will wipe all accounts from it so you can add them back afterwards. There is an option to keep
installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them.

I recently got an Xbox One X.

I'm 17. But whenever I try create an avatars, watch YouTube or even Netflix, it says i have to add a parent account. I don't get why I need to.

However i did try to add a parent account, but somehow, all it does is create another account on my xbox. And still asks for a parent account.

How can I get rid of this parent stuff?

Hello im responding in reference to your situation. The problem of the parent profile is that you can add multiple parent accounts. But one is gonna be controlled by your first account.

Im not saying delete the parent account from the family, i mean remove the parent account from the console. It's his home xbox and his live Gold, the parent account is just on the console for accountability.

Sorry about the message you keep receiving. Unfortunately, that message is not for Xbox live. That message pertains to your family set up. Looks like you have a child account and the parent account associated to it is not valid, meaning was removed from
family , the account was deleted etc. You will need to fix the family issue first. You can view

add a family member and see how to add a child to a parent account and see if you are in a family by going to Settings>account>family if in a family will say what the parent account is.
