Deleted adult account and now stuck as Unknown guest key

I hope you can help. I stupidly deleted my adult account on Xbox one to try and resolve a Minecraft issue. I was told it was simple to subsequently re add the account. However, this is not true.

the guidance to re add my account says to ‘add new’. However this requires a six digit guest key which ive never used (and no recollection of setting up but thats not to say i didnt) , and is different from my main pass key. Ive tried every sensible sux digit key that i would have set.

is there any solution?

when i get the guest key wrong three times it does not - as help pages suggest - ask me for my microsoft password.

all i can think of is factory reset; but am concerned this will delete the account i have already removed. as it says xbox accounts will be deleted on doing factoey reset - but perhaps removed accounts are protected ? Although i should mention that i have one (only one) child account which i could potentialy simialrly remove to protect it before resetting?

I’ve since found a similar thread below where the guy had zero accounts and did not know his guest key and was advised to do a hard factory reset ie deleting all apps.

My further issue is that I have one child account and I’ve read that this reset may delete the account entirely which I want to avoid. The adult account that was removed may also be at risk.

So my choices are:

A) do nothing and use child account

B) factory reset and maybe lose child account, maybe lose both ?

C) first remove child account in the hope that both accounts are recoverable

what do you think I should do ?

Unfortunately it does not resolve things.

If I try and change guest key it says I first must remove guest key.

But if I try and remove guest key then when I get to ‘settings’-‘system’-‘signed out content restrictions’ it says I need an adult account.

But If I try and ‘add new’ ie add a new adult account I need my guest key.

Hence being massively stuck!

Any further help will be greatly appreciated

If you are referring to the guest key, check this out:

A forgotten guest key can be reset by any adult as long as that person knows the password that they use to sign in to their Microsoft account on the console. The adult must be signed in on the console to reset the guest key.

A forgotten guest key can be reset by any adult, as long as that person knows their Microsoft account password and is signed in on the console.

Follow the steps to remove a guest key.
When you’re prompted to enter the guest key, enter an incorrect key three times, and then enter your Microsoft account password to remove the guest key.
If you want to create a new guest key, select Create a guest key and follow the steps.

In your case, since you deleted your Microsoft account, I would recommend creating a new one as that would be the only option!
