It isn't though. That is not what F2P. It is a fact that Defiance has never been F2P. And it isn't being pedantic because you are making it is a false statement.

I hate to break it to you but this isn't a small detail; this is a major revision of what F2P means.You're suggesting that any game retail game that doesn't have an additional cost to keep playing falls under your supposed notion of what F2P despite the
fact that FREE TO PLAY is not exclusively mutual with MMOs. But I guess League of Legends isn't F2P and so is any typical MP shooter like Call of Duty. How's that for being pedantic?

 

There is no such things as F2P, because you had to buy your gaming console/PC to play it.

Hopefully this means Defiance will get more players on the server, it seemed sparse sometimes. I like the game, I just don't like the patches. The things are huge go to play the game but have to wait 20+ minutes for a patch sheesh.

 

The confusion is coming from the fact that most people on this site will understand "Free to play" in the context of an MMO that once had a subscription fee cancelling the requirement for that subscription fee in the manner of "Star Wars: Knights Of The
Old Republic" and "Age of Conan".

That's not what's happening here.

There was never a subscription fee to play "Defiance" but you did have to buy the game itself and because it's an online game on the XBox LIVE Service you needed an XBox LIVE Gold Membership as well.

 

last I checked, If you pay to get the game, its not free, and if it has a subscription, its not free.

I only want to play this because besides dc online universe, I have never played a game that could handle more than 16 people in one server.

 

well for one thing the patches arent 20 minutes its alot longer and if u never played it u will have to install the game first then comes the long wait on patches and theres alot of them dlc for it is a fail minus 2 dlc major lag issues it gets to the point
u cant shoot your gun and its lost alot of players due to the issues sometimes u may have to reinstall the game plus redo the patches ive had to then i just quit playing it cause of the issues it is a decent game wont be back playing on it

"Defiance" is one of the best games they released on the 360.

It's a huge world with tons to do in Multiplayer or alone even though it's an MMO.

Played this game to death for months.

You'll get heaps more value out of this than you will some of the stuff that's been released on the ONE and PS 4 as "next gen" games.

It's like "Borderlands" with more realistic graphics.

Brilliant game for it's graphics, gameplay, story and replayability.

Be wary of anyone trying to tell you different.
