It's a brilliant game.

The only downside is that there's tons of patches to download to bring your game up to speed.

You really get your money's worth, even if you'd paid the full sale price at launch.

 

If it's now going to be free to download as someone speculated, can we expect to see a bunch of "I paid for Defiance and now it's free... that's BS" type threads?

 

Probably, and they should get perks/bonuses or something for paying for it. I would definitely give it a go. I've been curious about it, but always found something else to buy.

It's always been F2P, but you had to buy the disk, but in a few weeks time you won't have to buy the disk, you will be able to download the game for free.

 

No, that is not how F2P works. F2P isn't based solely on subscription based games. Just look at Team Fortress 2, Path of Exile, League of Legends, and DOTA 2.

it's basically gone the way of dcuo, the main game is free, but dlc expansions can still be bought. honestly surprised it's taken them this long, i figured it'd be shut down halfway through the first season of the tv show...

You and everyone else are making the mistake that F2P means no subscription which is not true at all. I gave you a list of examples. Dust 5-whatever for the ps3 is another one. So is that Warframe game for the ps4. Team Fortress 2 was a RETAIL game that
went F2P.
