    Defective Xbox headset, microphone breaking at mute button


    I have a Microsoft wireless headset that i have had for about a year, i put it on to play today and unmuted my mic and it fell and started dangling from the wires. Upon further inspection i found the screw that is supposed to hold the mic in place and a small piece of plastic with it in my lap. The microphone now has a crack running next to where the mute button used to be. I have kept this headset in pristine condition, no other damage at all, kept on a stand so it doesn’t sit on the table loose, never dropped it. I have seen countless other post of the same exact issue here on the Microsoft site and other forums. Here is one example:

    The hardware department has not been any help after about a hour of being on the phone and them hanging up, they tell me they can’t do anything even though it’s clearly a product defect. Is there anyone i can speak to to resolve this? I understand it is out of warranty but it is a manufacturer issue that should be taken care of without me having to spend the 100$ for a new headset. Hopefully Microsoft will help me or they will lose me as a customer. Putting pictures below.

    This is something that is designed to be able to move and be adjusted it should not be breaking by doing what it was designed for.

    Why do my headsets not work on Xbox Series X?

    Hi Adromyster, my name is Oskayra and I will be happy to help you.

    Check to see if the microphone on the headset is muted. Some headsets have a mute button on the headset itself or on the cable.

    To check if the microphone on your headset is muted, follow these steps:

    Open the "Settings" application.
    Select "Sound & Display".
    Select "Audio".
    Select "Microphone".
    Check the "Microphone Mute" button. If the button is on, the microphone is muted.

    Check your console's audio settings. Make sure that the headset microphone is selected as the audio input device.

    To check your console's audio settings, follow these steps:

    Open the "Settings" application.
    Select "Sound & Display".
    Select "Audio".
    Select "Input Devices".
    Make sure that the headset microphone is selected as the input device.

    You can also test the headset on another version of the console. If the microphone works on another version of the console, then the problem is related to your console version. In this case, it is possible that your console is not compatible with your headset.

    The microphone is muted, not the headset.

    The headset and microphone works on another xbox and controller.

    I have tried it on 2 controllers on the bone that is muted.

    If you do not have this headset on the Xbox Adapter but you have it on the classic jack, you can have the microphone muted in the Audius Headset setting, press the dashboard on the xbox, move the button to the toothed wheel and there will be an AUDIO and

    To connect a wired headset

    Turn down the headset volume by rotating the volume control all the way to the left.

    Insert the headset plug into the expansion port on your game controller.

    Put on your headset and adjust the microphone.

    To adjust the volume: Rotate the volume-control knob.

    To mute: Switch the microphone button on the headset cable.

    Microphone input is extremely low

    All drivers on the controller and console are updated, I don't know how to check for headset drivers via Xbox. As for mixers, the headset only comes with a simple audio output control, and microphone mute, both of which haven't been messed with (as in,
    the microphone isn't muted, and changing the slider doesn't affect microphone input).
