Dead Xbox One S - Remove disc and hard drive

My 2 year old Xbox One S has died, with no power at all. I've tried different cables and nothing. Ordered a replacement internal power supply and fitted that but also no luck, so now I'm just going to cut my losses and look at getting a new console, so I've got a couple of questions.

1. I still have a disc in the drive - can this be recovered easily? EDIT: Manual eject - does this still work with no power?

2. If the hard drive is OK, can I remove it and install it in a cradle to use as an external hard drive, with my saved games on?

3. Regarding games, will any of the saves be backed up to the cloud? It's been connected to the net the entire time up to crashing, but unsure whether saves backup to the cloud or if they are saved internally.

1. Well, a hammer and chisel are tools that are often overlooked!!! Seriously though...most drives have some sort of pinhole to eject discs if needed...imagine the Xbox drives are the same?

2. No clue...guess it depends how the operating system is installed on that drive unless you are planning to wipe the drive first? Not actually sure if it would work without wiping the drive anyway. Needs someone with way more knowledge than me

3. Most games save games to the cloud so you should be fine. I think older 360 games might not always have cloud saves enabled. When I had my One X, in just under a year I didn't come across a game that didn't save games to the cloud

Manual eject of your disc can be accomplished following these instructions

Your saves should be saved to the cloud

Other than the disc drive being removed it is identical to the xbox one s

Are you perhaps using the same hard-drive as before? If so it might be your hard-drive is failing and its not the game.

There are several things you can try to find out if it is your hard-drive.

The simplest one is to remove the hard-drive, then attempt to play the game. If it works with the hard-drive removed then its a hard-drive issue.

The newer software on the disc itself may be failing due to communication errors between he disc and hard-drive

Also if you do wipe your Disc off make sure you are not doing it in a circular motion. Just a lil tip.
