    DDossers and IPs

    Hi there ₆⁶₆₆⁶₆,

Thanks for asking this question here on the Xbox forums. In regard to the DDOS attacks, these target your IP address directly via your router and not just your console, which is why it has an effect on all your devices.

Here's a great support article that can help explain this and what to do when this may happen to you: DoS and DDoS attacks on Xbox One FAQ.
Generally speaking, when something like this happens, you'll want to restart your router and contact your ISP for further help.

Since there is no further resolution and in an effort to minimize repetitive answers we will be locking this thread, but if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to come back to the Xbox forum.

Hope that this information helps out!

    Stay safe & happy gaming!

Can someone be banned for DDosing?

Hi there Raptor! I'm afraid not... Unless this person has done something through Xbox Live services and broken the code of conduct/terms of service then there's nothing the Enforcement team can really much do. My advice is that next time if you ever find someone irritating in-game then don't retaliate as it could make the situation worse though in the meantime you can try blocking this person and changing your IP by unplugging your Wi-Fi for 30secs to 1min to provide this DDosser uneasy access to your IP :)

    Hello!

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you believe another player has DDOS or Denial of Service attacked your home network. I would recommend you fully unplug your router and modem for at least five minutes before
booting it back up. You can also take a look at this helpful support article for more information:

DoS and DDoS attacks on Xbox One FAQ
. I would also advise you contact your Internet Service Provider and let them know what you've experienced.

What should I do if I think I've been attacked?

If you think that your Xbox console or computer has experienced a DoS or DDoS attack, do the following:

    • Reset your Internet router.
    • Contact your ISP.
    • If you are certain of the identity of the DoS or DDoS attacker:
      • Contact the attacker’s ISP.
      • File a complaint against the player with Xbox Live. Select the "tampering" category
        on the complaint form.
    • Avoid that individual on Xbox Live in the future.
