Dashboard has no sound

Hello Thomas, have you tried any procedures in the console like clearing the cache or removing games that are in quick resume?

If you don't, also try resetting your console by keeping games and Apps.

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > system > console > system

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

Note - You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

Head to your console audio settings and check its not set to 5.1/7.1 or something else you don't have the hardware to support.

Ben, this is interesting because what you are experiencing is a bit different/opposite of what the rest here see. You have no sound on the dashboard and sound is ok in the original game you are playing, whereas what most see seems to be no sound in 'some' games and apps, but full sound in the menu/dashboard. Having said that, I bet it has to be related. There is something about the type of sound signal coming in and out of the HDMI interface that is different for the menu and some of the apps. Hoping to hear more of what others are seeing.

I also have this no sound problem and I also have a Samsung Q80 QLED tv. But like Ben I also have no sound on the dashboard sometimes. I say sometimes because I can turn on the console and I have sound on the dashboard, play a game, finish the game and return to the dashboard, and there is no sound anymore. But if I turn on the console and there is no sound on the dashboard, there isn't going to be any sound on games either. Except for the one game I have a physical disc for. I can pop the disc in and that game has sound. But finish that game and go back to the dashboard, no sound again.

I have had this problem since October. I have been on here, on Samsungs site and escalated it. No response or hint of an update. I’m off to get an lg c2 today and will give this brick away to a family member that doesn’t game. Thanks for nothing guys!

This problem is not only related to Samsung TVs.

I highly recommend to read the whole thread, before you invest money in a new TV just to find out, that this is NOT the solution.

PS: Try switching off HDR in Xbox settings. That might help until MS releases a fix.
