I actually wouldn't mind local Co-op in the slightest, I think more games could use Co-op than are currently willing to do it.

I realise it's an RPG thus character and plot choices could be difficult, but really, couldn't you just add a mutual 'A' selection to dialogue to help keep both immersion and Co-op? I know it isn't ideal but some Co-op would be better than none, and the
mutual choice would really help the Co-op do well.

The only thing is that although Co-op is a good idea in theory, I can't trust anyone to implement it properly. I'd love to see it done right in RPGs, particularly, along with more shooters, but it would HAVE to be full Co-op (Like the difference between
Halo's Co-op and Call of Duty's Co-op, for anyone familiar with those) and include all the dialogue, story options, quests, absolutely EVERYTHING.

Secondly, it would have to be mature, proper Co-op. Full character development. Full interactions. Well done mechanics, like NOT pausing when the other player is in the menu. Why the *** would you do that? No drop in, drop out ***. PROPER, 50/50% split Co-op.

I can't stress it enough, either. I'd also only support it if the Co-op was developed after Single Player was completed, but again, the problem is trusting the developer to go full steam ahead on the SP and THEN and ONLY THEN finish up Multiplayer.

I didn't enjoy Gears or Halo. But they are two more solid examples. Lets hear some more. So far we have 4 over the course of a generation. The half ased co-op are bad for both those who love co-op and for single player games. I want fully co-op games
like Borderlands and Assassins Creed. Fun open world + good story + co-op = perfection.

It depends on how it's implemented.

Forced Online is a huge no-no.

Forced co-op without an option to turn it off is a huge no-no.

However, if they add it like an option, as has been the case with any game with co-op, that's great. You can still enjoy your single player mode without any worries.

So no, i do not hope they make it strictly single player.

Playing games in co-op has a lot of benefits as well, again, depending on how they implement it.

If they do implement it, i hope you can play the full campaign in co-op as two different characters, both part of the story as it pans out, etc, instead of the typical co-op where player 2 is just along for the ride and their character really doesn't feel
like it's a part of the story.

Mass Effect and/or Borderlands are shooter/rpgs. Borderlands has story co-op, and Mass Effect 3 has a co-op multiplayer mode, but not story based. I'm not aware of any shooter/rpgs with competative multiplayer, though.
