    Current Device: Xbox One X 1TB will not Allow use of USB 3.0


    Just wondering what is an Approved USB 3.0 device, the USB thumb drive I have is as shown in the attached images.

    This piece contains High Quality SanDisk USB Flash Drive.
    Supported Standard: USB 1.0, USB 1.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.0.
    Work with : WinXP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac OS, Linux, Smart TV ...

    I also get an error code (0x80bd003b)

    The Box is seeing the thumb drive but will not allow recording to it, as shown in the video and error code above.

    Xbox difference

    Hi there,

    the difference between a regular Xbox One s and a Xbox One S 1TB will be that the 1TB version will have a 1tb storage device and not a 500GB storage device.

    So the 1TB which is about 1000GB will have approx. twice the storage amount compared to the 500GB version.

    Keep in mind that if needed the storage space can be expanded by connecting an external storage device (USB 3.0 and at least 256GB) to expand the available storage on any Xbox One console.

    Sorry to hear it. You can attach up to two external USB devices to your console for extra storage. They must be USB 3.0 compatible and can range in size from 256GB to 16TB. Currently I have an external 1TB drive although I'm going to need more space soon
    as well.

    Ensure that you are using the correct USB port on your Series X. Some consoles have multiple USB ports, but not all of them may support USB 3.0 speeds. Check your Series X's manual or support website to see which ports support USB 3.0 speeds.

    Try connecting the SSD enclosure to a different USB port on your Series X. If the first port you tried did not work, it is possible that there is an issue with that specific port. Try a different one to see if it recognizes the SSD enclosure as USB 3.0.

    Verify that the USB cable you are using is rated for USB 3.0 speeds. Some USB cables may not be rated for USB 3.0 speeds and can cause the device to not be recognized as USB 3.0. Ensure that the USB cable you are using is rated for USB 3.0 speeds and is in good condition.

    I see why they don't allow it... it may cause hardware failure or crashing... or so they say.

    The good news is USB drives are cheaper. I just bought a 1TB USB 3.0 drive for $60.

    You can plug an external USB 3.0 hard drive into the Xbox One. I currently have more than 3Tb on my system.
