CTIA mic not working Xbox one controller

Hello,

I try to use my Marley Liberate XL BT headphones with my Xbox one controller to chat and hear game audio at the same time. However, when it's plugged in I do hear audio but the mic of the cable won't register my voice. It only registers sound when I click
the buttons on the mic itself.

It's a 2.5 to 3.5mm cable. I attached a picture of the outputs. As you can see, the 3.5 input that goes in the controller is a TRRS, but I still can't chat through the mic. Now I bought a OMTP to Ctia adapter, in case the input is OMTP, which I read not
be compatible with the Xbox one controller. But still, with the adapter, my voice won't be registered by the mic.

I have some earphones of my Huawei phone, which do work flawlessly both for chat and audio when I plug them in.

Should I just buy another cable which is directly CTIA?

if the headphones need to be compatible, you could purchase an adapter to convert your device to CTIA

As I said, I already bought such an adapter. But it did not work somehow

All you need is a $5 omtp to ctia adapter on ebay. I have the beats studios and the mic was not working bought this adapter and inline mic now works with the xbox one adapter!

Yes and no. Beats was bought by Apple sometime ago. And Apple/Beats use a different wiring standard (OMTP). The Xbox controller uses the standard that Android phones use (CTIA).

What that means is that the mic and ground wire are flipped. So when you plug in your beats headset into the controller you will be able to hear others but your mic won't work or it will just make noise.

You would need to get an OMTP to CTIA adapter.

Yes my mic on my headset no longer seems 2 register is sound on the Xbox One.

and I tested my mic on the Android plugged in where did hear me so it's not my mic's physical fault.

Be aware that there are two standards for headset plugs called OMTP and CTIA.

In both standards the microphone and ground connections are reversed.

If your Android phone uses the OMTP standard, and the OMTP headset works on your Android phone, it will NOT work on the controller which requires a CTIA compliant headset.

Basically, the controller is then "listening" to the ground pin, while the microphone of your OMTP headset is "talking" to the ground pin of the controller.

You could try going to a phone shop or searching online for a CTIA to OMTP adapter. This adapter simply crosses the Microphone and Ground pin (so it works both ways, so you can also get a OMTP to CTIA adapter).

Since this adapter only crosses two wires, the adapter should not cost more than a coffee to go, or you're being ripped off.
