CSV promotion for Gold subscription

I'm afraid we can't locate any details regarding a 'Buy Gold & Get $5' promotion. Generally those promotions would save you money on Gold instead of rewarding CSV for buying Gold at full price. Do you happen to have a screenshot of the offer?

If you purchase a csv (currency stored value) ppc, which is added to your Microsoft account, you can then purchase games, add-ons, etc. without adding a credit card to your account. However, you CAN NOT purchase an xbox live subscription with a csv ppc.
You MUST purchase an Xbox live ppc to add a 1-month, 3-month, or 12-month subscription.

I'm assuming you're refering to this raptr promotion
raptr.com/.../xbox-live-free-gold-subscription. This promotion only works if you currently have an Xbox silver account, if you're currently a gold member the promotion code won't work.

The program does not consider trial subscriptions and some promotional subscriptions as a gold subscription. The 2 year contract, unfortunately, is seen as a promotional subscription so it is not recognized as a gold subscription through the program.
