    Hello, I was pondering a question about cross-platform functionality. So, most of my family play Minecraft Bedrock and we use cross-play to connect. (My dad has an Xbox One Special Edition, I have a Nintendo Switch, and my brother has a Nintendo Switch Lite.) I believe about 2 days ago, when I was in the menu to connect to my dad's world on my Switch, I saw a world on LAN. Intriguingly, somehow this showed up for a split second. To add to this mystery, I didn't know how this appeared since nobody was using LAN at the moment. So that triggered this thought: can we use LAN on cross-play? And if so, how do we use it? I hope we can because we live in a cold state, and that means frequent WI-FI disconnecting.

    Yes, you can play cross platforms on a LAN connection.

    First, make sure every player that wants to join is connected to the same network, then choose a host device that will run the world, and make sure everyone joining is running the same version of the game as the host.

    Start a LAN game:

    Press Play

    Create a new world or edit a current world by pressing the pen icon

    Go to multiplayer and make sure that “Visible to LAN Players” is enabled

    Start the world by choosing Create or Play

    Join a LAN game:

    1. Go to the Play menu

    2. Click the Friends tab and look for available LAN Games

    You should ask on the Sony forums, as they have better knowledge of the minutia that might have your answer. I would guess it would also entirely depend on the title
