Sign into your Microsoft account and go into your Xbox privacy settings:

On that page you will "Privacy" and "Xbox One/Windows 10 online safety" (just below your user profile) and change all the preferences to allow or enabled. After that sign-out from your account and then sign-in again to take effect of it.

I have linked my Microsoft account to my PS4 account in order to play cross platform minecraft. The issue is that I would like to play cross platform with my brother, who is playing using my Xbox One. My microsoft account is now associated with
both my PS4 account and Xbox Live account, which means that we share a gamertag. For this reason I cannot add my Xbox account as a friend on Minecraft and cannot play cross platform. I attempted to resolve this issue by unlinking my Microsoft account from
my PS4 account but this did not resolve the issue. I was unable to link a different Microsoft account to my PS4 account, a message informed me that my account was already linked to another and could not be linked again.

I usually have the same issues here. What I do is when I'm with friends on PC and I myself am on Xbox I will invite them to a party and then through the party I invite them to the game. Then they can join. The only time it didnt work I hard resented the
xbox (press and hold the xbox icon on the xbox for 10s until the power brick turns orange) and it worked after it started back up.

Thanks for the reply! I've had a look at invites but it only shows up my Xbox friends in it, and doesn't have the option to invite new friends. I tried holding down the Xbox button too and it turned off after 5 seconds. I'm not having any luck with it..
