It would already be compatible, you would just need to be playing games that offer cross platform play.

It has already that option. However not all games are cross platform. Just a few like Paladin, Fortnite , Rocket League

like others said it depends on games and other systems allowing it

in some games it is a option in the settings, rocket league for example you can turn it on or off

There is no way to do so. As stated, platforms are not cross compatible. Steam is a platform, the Windows Store is a platform, Xbox is a platform, Switch is a platform, none of them cross save except in very rare cases
