    I play minecraft on a laptop and want to play with my friend on xbox but I can join his game and he does not appear connected on the game but he is connected on xbox.How I can play with him?

    This can be a bit dumb, but just to confirm. Are you playing Minecraft for Windows / Bedrock edition?
    I ask this because Java players can't play with console / mobile players

    If yes, may I know if only with this specific friend are you experiencing this problem?
    Or, did you tried to re-add this friend to your friends list? (Ask them to do the same with you)

    In the meantime, please tell me what are you seeing next to / below NAT type
    For this open the Xbox console companion app (available in the Microsoft store) > settings > network

    And ask your friend to do the same on their Xbox:
    Go to console settings > general > network config
