Credit card saved for purchases/ need to remove HELP

Please check this page on all accounts you have to make sure the card is not listed:

If it is, please remove it.

If it's currently being used as a payment method for any recurring subscriptions, please first cancel the subscription here:

https://account.microsoft.com/services/ And then you can remove the payment method on the link above.

And yes, if you remove the card from the account you can use gift cards in the future instead of a credit/debit card.

Just remember that currency cards can't be used for Xbox Live Gold membership (or Games with Gold) - you must use the cards that specifically say 1, 3, 6 or 12 months Xbox Live Gold (or Games with Gold) on them.

The currency cards can be used for games and downloadable content.

If this issue comes from unauthorized purchases you can keep the credit/debit card on file and you can set up a passkey that must be entered before purchasing anything, as seen on this page:

You have the option to remove your credit card after buying microsoft points. However, if you use a credit card to purchase an xbox live subscription, you will need to keep that credit card on file until the subscription is cancelled. Here is a link that

You can use a credit card and remove after purchase, just make sure it says use microsoft balance for purchase, then after remove card. Also if you have 1 of those debit/Visa gift cards from a store, you can put that as the credit card. After you
buy, remove auto renewal from account and then remove credit card from billing

Is the Vanilla Visa card a pre-paid Visa card by chance? Most pre-paid credit and debt cards won't work on Live.

You could add a regular credit card to your account and remove it after you purchase the game. Instructions on how to remove a payment can be located here:

If you don't want to put a credit card on your account at all, you may have to purchase a disc version from a retailer.

Yep it is almost impossible to remove auto renew when a credit card is attached to your account unless you give them a call to remove it. Personally I don't bother putting a credit card on it and just use prepaid codes to save myself from having a headache
with it in the future. I don't need to worry about it auto renewing or having to call.
