CREATING VIRTUAL RAM FOR GAMING ON A 4GB RAM HP LAPTOP

I'm afraid for gaming if you've only got 4GB you've only got 4GB, nothing can increase it, certainly not virtual memory.

Not even sure if GTV will even launch with 4GB, Forza 5 certainly won't.

I have a HP laptop running windows 10 home with 4gb RAM, So I recently heard about expanding the RAM through creating more virtually. I really want to run games on it but its gone really slow even with normal 4GB games. how much virtual RAM is enough without putting the pc at risk and does this virtual ram help run more demanding games such as FORZA 5 or GTA 5. please help.

Creating virtual ram honestly wont really help much if at all with gaming because it uses your hard drive (im assuming your computer is using a hard drive and not an ssd) space to do so which is extremely slow compared to the rest of your physical ram.

Without the exact model number of your laptop we won't know what (or even if) RAM upgrades are available for your particular machine. However, you can do a system scan over at the Crucial website to see if your machine can be upgraded.

I'll warn you now, laptops sold with only 4GB of RAM are either of the extreme budget end or really old. Neither of which is good for playing games. Even if you can expand the RAM, you probably have a basic processor with poor integrated graphics.

Also, upgrading RAM on your laptop might not be straightforward. While more expensive models have panels on the back you can remove and add RAM sticks, cheaper models pretty much need to be almost disassembled to add RAM. Lots of screws and thin wires. Not something you'd want to do yourself if you're a novice!
